Teaching across disciplines in physical education, art and music can be beneficial to learning math. Art promotes critical thinking skills, creativity in problem solving, and visual/spacial learning which support standards of mathematical practices. Music also promotes problem solving and the acquisition of a mathematically based language using ratios of scales, notes and timing. Meanwhile, physical education brings math to a real-world experience which allows students to make connections between abstract concepts and quantitative reasoning.
