I graduated with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2011, I obtained my teaching credential and Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine. I currently teach middle school mathematics and I hold a California and Oregon teaching credential in math, calculus, general science and physics. In addition, I recently earned an administrative certificate of eligibility.
This year, I am teaching four sections of 8th grade math and an intervention math lab. The Irvine Unified School District is comprised of a diverse student population including a large group of ELL students primarily from Asian countries and first generation hispanic students. The majority of families are college educated yet we are one of the few schools in the district that qualify for Title 1 support. I enjoy supporting and motivating low achieving students. My interest is utilizing technology to support cognitive learning in mathematics. My research interest include understanding student perceptions in completing online mathematics homework, supporting mathematical understanding through writing, and increasing student engagement with project based learning in math. Last year, I was awarded a district innovative technology grant for a 1:1 chromebook classroom.
I am a mother to three boys which include my oldest in his Junior year of college at the University of Arizona. I am blessed with twins and they are entering high school. In addition to this course, I am working on my Boise State Innovative Experience and dissertation.
